This SAPPI Safe Transport Empowerment Programme (STEP) kicked off with the introductory session at Blythedale on the KZN North Coast. This initiative is part of SAPPI’s enterprise development programme (ESD) aimed at equipping and resourcing SME transporters with the tools to build safe and sustainable businesses. The SME delegates primarily provide transport services to SAPPIs Tugela and Saiccor mills and included potential service providers as well. The proceedings outlined the key transport risks and the control measures that are required to be implemented. The SAPPI procurement team actively participated in the workshop and emphatically conveyed SAPPI’s objective which was for these SME’s to build self-sustaining and successful business enterprises. JC Auditors’ team of Oliver Naidoo (MD) and Gift Nhlabathi (Senior Auditor) facilitated the workshop and outlined the various interventions that will take place over the next 6-month period. The JC Auditors’ team look forward to workingwith these entrepreneurs and look forward to an exciting journey ahead.
