JC Auditors Training

JC Auditors have conducted in excess of 5000 audits over the last 15 years. We have seen that the biggest risk in a road transport operations is driver behaviour, since our audit data shows that more than 80% of crashes are due to driver behaviour. The statistics globally are very similar with 80% to 90% of road incidents attributed to behaviour. These behavioural risks may be attributed to inadequate skill, lack of focus, negligence, insufficient awareness, psychological or medical issues or sometimes a combination of these factors. In view of this, JC Auditors have felt a compelling need to make a difference to the improve driving behavior and these courses have that motivation at heart.

We have used and partnered with industry experts in developing the following courses:

1. RTMS Defensive Driver Training – This course can be done online or may arranged in person for group of 10 or more. It is based on TETA accredited learning materials and focuses on a detailed unpacking of the key principles of defensive driving including the specific traits, behaviours and associated factors that are required. This course will enable the driver to keep safe driving practices at front of mind always!

The course comprises the following 6 modules:

RTMS Requirements
• ABC of Defensive Driving
• The Smith System including K53
• SIPDE
• Driving Techniques
• Managing Driving Stress

2. Introduction to RTMS – This course comprises various recorded videos that explain the background to the Road Transport Management System (RTMS) as well as detailed discussion of each element in the standards. The course facilitator shows the delegates how to comply with the requirements of the RTMS standard including the following:

a. Control of loading to comply with mass limits
b. Vehicle types and load limits
c. Speed monitoring and management
d. Incident and accident analysis
e. Traffic fine management
f. Vehicle maintenance/servicing
g. Tyre management
h. Daily vehicle safety inspections
i. Fatigue management
j. Driver health and wellness
k. Driving behaviour management/driver training
l. RTMS Management Functions
m. Reporting of RTMS KPIs

The course also discusses the specific audit requirements and how to ensure that evidence if available for a successful RTMS audit.

3. Other courses coming soon:
a. Speed management – understanding the technicalities of speed management and the safety risk. The course can be used for drivers and fleet controllers/supervisors/managers since it provides the logical reasons for driving at safe speeds. Once completing this course, drivers will understand why safe speeds are so important and will make them much more likely to drive at safe speeds.

b. Fatigue Management – We know that inadequate attention to fatigue management is a key contributor to crashes on our roads. This course is based on extensive research showing fatigue statistics and outlines in detail the core factors of fatigue. It provides the driver and management an understanding of how crucial it is to ensure that drivers understand how to manage their own health and the role of fleet management to monitor and promote a positive and risk adjusted approach to fatigue management.
